detail of a 36"painted chandelier by Jenny Floravita

There has been so much going on in my studio lately! Two days ago I completed the first of two large 36-inch painted chandeliers. Both will soon be en route to Colorado. These will be lovely, lovely pieces. Though I don’t have great photographs of this piece yet…hopefully I will soon and will post them on my website here. Large painted chandeliers require a lot of time and detail. My glass bowls are not made in production—each bowl is hand crafted, literally!!! Each of my gorgeous iron fixtures are hand-forged so that each large fixture fits the bowl exactly. A lot really goes into creating a large chandelier before my brush ever hits the glass. The concept behind this particular piece is based on reds, pinks, purples and specific wildflowers. Color is always the basis for my work. The second 36″ chandelier will have a different color and flower scheme. Hopefully I will begin to paint this piece on Monday.

It’s definitely easier for me to create and offer my more standard sizes which are 24″ and 28″ diameter but…I have to admit that when I have the opportunity to create a large chandelier I jump at the chance. The surface area in the glass bowl allows for me to really show off my talent for this forgotten art. I’m very proud of my work and nobody but me realizes how much really goes into each of these illuminated creations.

My hand painted chandeliers are truly a value for the lifetime of enjoyment that they will bring. Some lucky family who I will likely not meet will install this painted chandelier into their home sometime this year. May it bring them much joy!
