Join me over the next couple of days. There is so much to do in my studio, I turn a big wheel…but I find time time to create quiet to contrast my busy life.

In this studio vlog, we’ll travel to my favorite quiet beach in Pacific Grove, California and in my studio, you’ll get a glimpse of the variety of things that I do in a given week.

It might surprise you but some weeks I only have an hour or two to paint. So this week I’m choosing to paint a bird of paradise in watercolor.

Other weeks—all I do is paint—it just depends.

This is a busy week filled with packing and deliveries (for my chandeliers). So the quiet time painting in watercolor is appreciated. It’s like magic time that allows me to get back to my true roots.

This painting will be simple and I might use it in a surface design later…so there will not be a background. This is more of an exercise in painting just the bird of paradise flower.

Part of the ritual of painting begins with a cup of tea…and choosing the first few colors and getting those ready on my palate. And as I’m filming, I have brushes that I might use, chosen and ready to paint!

I think this painting took 20-25 minutes in total. The orange hues are mixed with two colors.

I didn’t film the delivery of the 20 inch chandelier. The delta road that I drove is windy and I din’t have company to help film. The clients who received now own two of my hand painted glass chandeliers.

I also took a minute to pop a chandelier glass into my studio fixture for a quick video to share on social media. I’m packing this chandelier as well. It’s 24 inch glass diameter and will ship to clients who are also ordering sconces. The colors are inspired by an evening in Palm Springs. All of my glass is formed in my studio here. My iron fixtures are hand forged. We ship all over the USA…and sometimes beyond.

As I paint a lot of oceans, taking my tote bags to the beach provides a perfect backdrop for photo shoots. I have a background as a graphic designer. Photo shoots take serious effort. I had several of these beautiful, sturdy and artful bags to capture in both still and video formats. I’ve been testing and using them for two years and the quality has always been stellar.

FloravitaIsland.com is my website that features my gift and home decor line…fine art prints and less expensive works of art. It is also linked at the top of the menu here.

Finally it’s time to leave…one of my favorite spots on the planet. We head to Monterey for dinner and one more beach, to enjoy the sunset.
