glass bowls created by Jenny FloravitaEvery artist learns from their work. Being an artist is a bit of an odd occupation and when you are creating you often have a lot of time to reflect on life. Your life’s force and how your life is inspired is what drives the creative process. When artists say that they put their heart and soul into their work, this is what they mean.

What has my art taught me most? For one, I have learned to value my work and talent like other professionals do who are in more mainstream careers. Everyday that I create and work in my business (which is most days of my life) I am constantly reminded of all that it takes to make my art work well for me so that I can continue to do this as a profession. I am a successful artist but the key is that I work at achieving success. My reward is that the next day I can create again.

When you are an artist and when you wake in the morning, there is nobody to tell you what to do. You must be motivated and inspired. It’s an endless process of re-creating the inspiration that is so necessary in our lives. For me, this does come easily so I feel lucky.

The above picture, though not lovely, is what my glass chandeliers look like before they are cold worked. Only after my hand created glass bowls are perfect can I begin the painting process.
