24″ Reverse Hand Painted Glass Chandelier by artist Jenny Floravita—is installation ready.
Lava Sea to Land is a very new concept for my gorgeous reverse hand painted glass chandeliers. I had been dreaming of this idea for some time, trying to envision how I would pull the idea out of my mind. Finally I had the courage to begin a piece this past summer. My idea was to combine my fascination in the texture and colors of Hawaiian lava, from the molten form to it’s gorgeous rock formations with my abstractions in watery hues. This chandelier launches my ‘Sea to Land’ series. It comes straight from my heart.
This original reverse hand painted glass chandelier did sell right away. Since July I’ve created and sold a few more pieces that are based loosely on this theme of Hawaiian lava, sometimes molten and underwater abstractions. Each of my new ‘Land to Sea’ chandeliers has gone in a different direction to make it very original.
What I thought was most beautiful about this specific reverse hand painted chandelier is it’s drama. My molten lava is very dramatic. The underwater sections play off my love of exotic sea pearls. When I travel to the islands one of my favorite pass times is looking at pearls and adding to my collection.
In these pictures I’m showing Lava Land to Sea in two different hand forged fixtures—my Contemporary Swirl and my Ornate fixture styles. The colors are very cheerful. The cool watery blues compliment my firey lava sections gorgeously. In Hawaii, the lava flows into the sea and these colors are very representative of that earth forming wonder. New rock is formed everyday. The coastal lava rock formations are incredibly stunning to behold and very inspiring to my work. The footing on the islands extend far into the ocean beyond what you can see and that adds more meaning to the concept of ‘land to sea’. Though this piece sold in it’s first private viewing, I will post more of these different lava and sea themed reverse painted glass chandeliers in the coming weeks.
