Southwest Aqua and Tangerine abstract glass art chandelier glows like a warm summer afternoon. The client who I’ve painted this chandelier for—yes, this is a bespoke chandelier—hasn’t even seen it yet…but I am crazy about this piece so I am sharing images in advance! Pictures off my light easel show the beauty of the colors and the artistry in the abstract design elements.
{Client did approve and love this chandelier after seeing images—so this special chandelier is taken}. This is what the client said:
Jenny!! I am in love with it! The design and the colors are a dream come to light! I am so excited, and impressed! Thank you so much, this will be an incredible centerpiece in our home!! I can’t thank you enough, this is thrilling!!! I am a little speechless at the beauty, and the teals and aqua are perfect! Yay! Love, Andrea
The story behind this beautiful “cool” Southwest inspired color palate originates with another abstract painted glass chandelier from last year. My client saw a piece in my collection that was sold and she commissioned me to paint a custom piece that is similar…and in our conversation I inquired about colors. She requested a sweeping color change. I have painted and sold hundreds of my chandeliers to date. I do understand the challenges when clients request big color substitutions. The results might be surprising!
Luckily with this piece the vast color substitutions worked well and the original concept transformed from a hot desert colored inspired chandelier to a cooler, summer color palate. With careful thought, I was able to save the integrity of the composition and keep the contrast strong through out the glass. Color has to work with the design and be interesting.
In the case of this Southwest Aqua and Tangerine abstract glass art chandelier, I love the end results. The orange tangerine hues and cool aquas remind me of popsicles next to a cool swimming pool. It almost has an art deco feeling as well. The structure of the actual painting is as similar as I could make it to the piece that it is inspired from…yet areas are different. From the original design concept, I took out a ton of red and pinks (which are highly requested colors in my abstract chandeliers) and replaced them with aqua and teal hues. If you google Aqua and Teal you will see a very wide range of hues! And these aqua and teal hues are in my volcanic ocean reef chandeliers (so the client had seen those) and I tried hard to get the full range of hues into this chandelier.
The end results turned out to be a fabulous new painted glass chandelier!! I am confident in that! A good number of my chandelier orders every year are custom painted pieces and I’ve never said they were easy but I do the best that I can given interpretation…until I achieve a piece that is right my my client’s homes.
All of my hand painted glass chandeliers are created here in my studio in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. The glass bowls are formed in my kilns and my fixtures are hand forged. This chandelier is 24 inches in glass diameter though do larger—feel free to inquire. Chandeliers are painted only be me, they are not patterns nor are they painted by studio people. If you would like to speak with me, feel free to call my studio at 925-625-7969 or email me at jenny@floravita.com and I’ll get back to you shortly.
