This colorful Hawaiian cottage painting has a very cheerful and sunny disposition and is part of a series that I’m working in right now is centered around tall, slim tropical Hawaiian plantation cottages. For these slender and expressive paintings, I’m working in oil and allowing my brush strokes to be both soft ad blended in some ares with areas being expressive with texture. All are on gallery wrapped canvases and are painted around the edges.
I’m imagining that most of these lovely slim Hawaiian paintings will be paired in groups. This lovely painting is 10×30 inches tall and is titled Colorful Blue Hawaiian Plantation House with Red Tin Roof and Swaying Palms and is available through my Shop here.
In Hawaii, many of the plantation cottages also have these wonderful red tin roofs. I love the different colors that reflect in the roofs. I love it when it rains (every night!) and you are surrounded by the sound of the rain. I just love that!
I love when locals show pride in their lush tropical gardens, planting red and pink tropical ginger flowers. I love coconut palms that are tall and sway expressively in the breeze…and most of all, I love it when they are left wild with coconuts.
Bamboo also adds a lovely green and golden texture to this scene and creates a dramatic backdrop in this cottage painting. The green grass and red dirt and cloudy blue sky are all part of island life. I miss Hawaii when I am not there and my oil and watercolor paintings help to keep the wonderful feeling that is aloha.
