A bit over two years ago another glass artists friend who is also very well known in her on right, convinced me to create a line of small hand painted night lights as an alternative to my chandeliers. Anytime an artist develops a new piece there is considerable time that can go into making the work exactly *right*. Two years later, I’ve got it down.
I create my reverse painted night lights in groups and the designs are based upon the elements that I am painting in my chandeliers. I will admit that they are tough to photograph and so much more lovely in person. I’ve created dozens of different pieces but can only show a few at the moment on my website.
There are three special qualities: 1) the painting artistry that goes into the nightlights when you simply hold them up to the light, 2) the actual illuminated look, which is what you will see when you have them plugged into your wall and 3) the fact that these night lights are made by hand and are of the highest quality.
Each glass night light is made from glass that I cut, slump and cold work. The painting is then done on the back of the glass and after the drying process the fixture is attached and checked. I currently create two sizes and I’m slowing the smaller one (left) in this post. They are quite a lot of work and I feel like my prices are reasonable for the work of art that they are.
Yesterday I decided that I was going to finally be the owner of a hand painted nightlight. I put a larger Vineyard piece in my kitchen and pointed it out to my husband the next day. He said that it was nice that he can now see downstairs without any real lights being on. I am proud to offer these little illuminated gems and glad to finally have them available on my website. Come back and see new pieces soon.
