Original SOLD, prints available. Bananas are an obsession of mine. We grow several varieties here in my studio garden and I love their lush foilage and find the flower blooms so lovely. This lovely violet colored Hawaiian banana flower has a very dramatic composition and would pair well with my other small square tropical Hawaiian flower paintings.

Watercolor on archival board, 8"x8". Water lilies are absolutely fabulous in our backyard pond. They thrive most of the year but do die back in the winter. They add both color and protection for our fish. This beautiful tropical pond flower also adds cover for our fish.

Water Lily Reflection

Original SOLD, prints available. One of my favorite parts in my back yard is our pond with it's water lilies. It's the size of a small swimming pool and is several feet deep. In the summer our pond flourishes with lilies and greenery. The water lily is a lovely tropical flower that you see in the ponds of the islands like Hawaii and in warm climates like Southern California.

This painting was originally part of a big set of small square tropical flower paintings, all of which sold. Copper accents adored the piece.

Giant Birds of Paradise on Copper Tropical Flower Painting

They regally create an arch for visitors to pass through to see my studio gallery. In the summer, they grow quickly in the warmth here in California. Most people think of birds of paradise as tropical flowers but they really originate from South Africa.

These colorful pendant flowers are seen in Hawaii, Florida and through out the islands. Specifically my inspiration for this grouping came from a stand of heliconia flowers over a lake that I saw in Miami.

Parrots Beak Heliconia & Red Pendant Heliconia Tropical Flower

Watercolor Painting, 40"x32". The old Parrot Jungle Garden in Coral Gables, Florida was the inspiration for this tropical flower painting. On this particular day the rains came through and I saw these flowers while taking cover. Common names for these tropical flowers are parrots beak heliconia and red pendant heliconia.
